This film poster is also similar to The Giver as the characters are also faded into the background of the poster.Thor: The Dark World is a 2013 American superhero film based on the Marvel Comics character Thor, produced by Marvel Studios and distributed by Walt Disney Studios Motion Pictures. I love the idea of using locations in the background of the poster as it gives the audience an insight to what the film is going to include. The high dark waves also indicated that action will be involved and due to their colour it will not be in Thor’s favour.Įven though this film poster is not the same genre as my short film, I will still take ideas from this. This is because of the variety of characters located in the background and the assortment of locations used.
When looking at the poster, we already see signs that this is an action adventure. The purpose of the billing block is to tell the audience what role everyone had in the making of this film. It always has a conventional location on the poster which is at the bottom. It shows positivity in the horizon meaning something good will happen in the futureĪs most film poster the billing block is very important, even though the audience rarely look at it. Another colour used is the poster is the bright yellow beam coming from the sun. The bright red colour connotes bravery and loyalty towards Jane. However, there are small glimpses of bright cheerful colours such as the cape that Thor is wearing. This puts a negative feeling on the poster for the audience. The main colour used in this film poster is the shade of dark blue. The importance of the actors goes from left to right with Chris Hemsworth, who has the main role in the film, as the first name. Having them toward the top of the poster shows their dominant role in the film. The actor’s names are located in a conventional place for a film poster. However, the outline is in a strong gold colour this represents success and achievement which could relate to the storyline. The colour of the font is in a silver/stone colour. It is in large font that represents the character that the film is based on. The title is placed in a conventional place for this film genre. The background in every film poster should show a hint to the audience about what might be included in the film. There are also some key locations that we can work out from the background such as the bridge and the battlefield. They have a faded effect on them which means that they will appear later on in the story. There are many characters located in the background of the poster.
In this film poster there is a lot happening in the background which is hard to take in. The dark lighting effect also indicates to the audience that this film is not for the faint hearted. In films this is shown as a war approaching them. The use of the capes on the character shows that large gusts of wind are coming at them. The use of Thor’s Hammer is acting as a protective weapon which will be used by Thor to stop the outbreak getting to Jane. It shows Thor acting as Jane’s protector as she is very close up to him. The main image of the film poster is of Thor (Chris Hemsworth) and Jane Forster (Natalie Portman). I will be analysing the effects used in this poster. Even though this film does not match the genre of my short film. When Dr Jane Forster gets cursed with a powerful object, Thor must protect it before an army and its ruthless leader try to get their hands on it and take over the remains of the Earth. Thor: The Dark World is directed by Alan Taylor and stars Chris Hemsworth and Natalie Portman.
